Assumes no pushes. Push rules vary by book (many drop the leg and pay the next-smaller teaser; some grade a tie as a loss). Football spreads only; key numbers are NFL final margins of 3 and 7.
How to use this calculator
Pick 6, 6.5 or 7 points, enter your stake, then type each team's spread as your book shows it (favorites negative, underdogs positive). The green line shows your payout, the cover rate each leg needs to break even, and how many legs cross both 3 and 7. The table shows each teased line and the key numbers it gains. If your book's teaser price differs, edit the price table. Add your own cover estimate to see expected value, then copy the result or save it as an image.
Teasers and the NFL key numbers 3 and 7
A teaser moves every leg of a parlay by the same number of points in your favor, and you get a smaller payout in return. In the NFL that trade is only worth it when the extra points carry the line through 3 and 7, the two most common final margins. Moving a line from −8.5 to −2.5, or from +1.5 to +7.5, picks up both. Moving −3 to +3 or +10 to +16 crosses fewer common margins, so you pay the teaser price for less. This calculator flags which key numbers each leg gains: 3 means a loss now wins, and ½3 means the leg gains half a key number (a loss becomes a push, or a push becomes a win).
The price matters as much as the legs. Every extra half-point costs you payout, and each added team raises the hit rate every leg needs. Compare that per-leg breakeven with how often you think each leg covers. Check the line movement checker to see if a number has moved toward or away from a key number this week, price a normal ticket in the parlay calculator, and see this week's biggest moves on the NFL line moves page.
FAQ
What is a 6-point teaser in football?
A 6-point teaser is a parlay of two or more football bets where every spread or total moves 6 points in your favor: a −7.5 favorite becomes −1.5 and a +2.5 underdog becomes +8.5. Every leg must still win, and the payout is lower than a normal parlay.
What are the key numbers for NFL teasers?
3 and 7 are the most common NFL final margins, so teasers are strongest when each leg moves through both. With 6 points that means favorites of −7.5 to −8.5 teased down to −1.5 to −2.5, and underdogs of +1.5 to +2.5 teased up to +7.5 to +8.5.
How do you calculate teaser breakeven?
Convert the teaser price to decimal odds and take 1 ÷ decimal for the chance the whole ticket must win. For the chance each leg must cover, take that number to the power of 1 ÷ legs. A 2-team teaser at −120 (1.833) must win 54.5% of the time, so each leg needs about 73.9%.
