Linewire is a free sports betting information newsletter and set of free tools at linewirehq.com, run by Agentic Desk ("we", "us"). This page explains, in plain English, what we collect, why, who helps us run things, and your choices. Questions: news@linewirehq.com.
The short version
- We collect your email address when you sign up, plus a few details about how you found us.
- We use it to send Linewire emails. We never sell or rent your information.
- Our site analytics are cookieless. We don't use advertising cookies or trackers.
- Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also just reply or write to news@linewirehq.com.
- Linewire is for adults 21 and over.
What we collect
When you sign up or update preferences
Our signup and preferences forms collect your email address and anything you choose to tell us (for example the sports, teams or apps you follow). Each form also sends a few attribution fields so we know which pages and channels work:
- the form you used (for example "home_hero") and the page you signed up on;
- where your first and most recent visits came from (for example search, X, Reddit, a newsletter, or "direct"), the first page you landed on, and any utm_source / utm_medium / utm_campaign tags in the link you followed;
- a referral code, if a friend's Linewire link brought you here.
Forms are processed by Formspree, which receives what you submit and passes it to us.
Attribution stored in your browser (no cookies)
To fill in those attribution fields, our site saves a small amount of information in your browser's localStorage. These are the exact keys:
- lw_ft (first touch): how you first arrived (for example search, x, reddit or a utm_source), the utm_medium and utm_campaign if the link had them, the page you landed on, and when. Replaced after 90 days.
- lw_lt (last touch): the same fields for your most recent visit that came from a link or search rather than a typed-in address.
- lw_ref: a referral code from a
?ref=link and when you arrived. Ignored after 30 days. - linewire_waitlist: on the home page, the newsletter page and email issue pages, the email address you signed up with from this browser, so the same address isn't submitted twice. It is never sent anywhere by itself.
- __lw_t: a test value written and deleted straight away to check that storage works. It holds nothing.
The attribution values stay on your device and are only sent to us, as hidden fields, if you submit a form. Our analytics script (Umami) doesn't store anything in your browser; it only checks for an opt-out flag named umami.disabled if you set one. We don't set cookies. You can clear all of this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for linewirehq.com. If your browser blocks storage, the site still works.
Site analytics
We use Umami Cloud, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service, to count visits and see which pages and tools get used. It records things like the page viewed, the referring site, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language and approximate country, plus simple events such as "used a calculator", "copied a share link" or "submitted the signup form" (event data never includes your email). Umami doesn't use cookies and doesn't build a profile of you across other websites.
Email engagement
We send email through Resend. Like most newsletters, our emails can include open tracking (a tiny image that tells us an email was opened) and click tracking. With click tracking, links in our emails go through links.linewirehq.com, a Resend tracking address, before sending you to the page. This tells us which emails and links are useful. We use these numbers in aggregate to improve the newsletter.
When you email us
If you reply to an email or write to us, we receive your message and email address and use them to answer you and improve Linewire.
How we use it
- To send the free Sunday email, the welcome email, and anything you asked for (for example your preferences, or the Pro waitlist note when Pro opens).
- To understand which pages, tools and channels bring readers, so we can make Linewire better.
- To run the referral program (below).
- To keep forms free of spam and abuse.
We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't share it with sportsbooks, DFS apps or advertisers. If we ever run a sponsored placement, the sponsor gets no subscriber data.
Referral codes
On /refer.html your browser makes a short referral code from your email address. The code is generated on your device, and the email you type there isn't sent anywhere. When a friend signs up through your link, the code comes with their signup so we can credit you. We count referrals ourselves and may store your code and referral count with your subscriber record. Rewards are Linewire content or access only, with no cash value.
Payments
The Sunday email and the tools are free. If you buy a paid Linewire plan, checkout is handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment details, and we never see or store your full card number. We receive what we need to run your subscription, such as your name, email, plan and payment status.
Market and line data
Our Markets pages show public prediction-market prices from Polymarket's public data, and our line pages show public sportsbook lines. That's public data about markets and games, not about you. We don't send your information to Polymarket or any sportsbook. Links to those sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
Who helps us (service providers)
| Provider | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Formspree | Receives and stores signup and preferences form submissions |
| Resend | Stores our subscriber list and sends our emails, including open/click tracking (links.linewirehq.com) |
| Stripe | Processes payments for paid plans, if you buy one |
| Umami Cloud | Cookieless site analytics |
| GitHub Pages | Hosts this website (like any web host, it handles basic request data such as IP addresses to serve pages) |
These providers process data for us under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect Linewire and its readers from fraud or abuse.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe: every Linewire email has an unsubscribe link. You can also reply to any email or write to news@linewirehq.com.
- Change what you get: email preferences, or just reply with your changes.
- Access, correction or deletion: email news@linewirehq.com and we'll help. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we'll honor them.
- Browser data: clear your browser's site data for linewirehq.com to remove the stored attribution and referral info.
How long we keep it
We keep your subscriber information while you're subscribed. After you unsubscribe we keep only what we need to respect that choice, such as your email on a do-not-send list, unless you ask us to delete it. Analytics data is kept in aggregate by Umami under its retention settings.
21+ only
Linewire is intended only for people 21 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If you think someone under 21 has signed up, tell us at news@linewirehq.com and we'll remove them.
Security
We keep what we collect small and use established providers. No method of storing or sending data is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. If a change is significant, we'll say so in the newsletter.
